The 59 Renault body gets mounted! And we evaluate...🤨
Time to do some more work on the Renault/VW Beetle rat rod/hot rod project here at Rat Rods for Africa. I finally bolt the 1959 Renault body onto the shortened, customized and rebuilt VW Beetle floor pan. Then we evaluate the stance. We also see that the fenders will require extensive modifications to accommodate the widened custom VW steely wheels.
Whilst discussing the option of building widened wheel arches, I notice that something is not quite right...

The organizer of the 2024 Nuts & Bolts Rally asked me if the rally cars could make a pit stop at my shop this year. Their route for the day follows dirt roads that are very close to my farm. I was just woundering if you are OK ? It has been a couple weeks without a video.
That's how they roll in South Africa: Two gents lifting on one side and 1 lady on the other. They must breed em strong down there!
that's pretty freaking cool. springs in series will be a lower effective spring rate. might be okay if the weight is much less than the car the torsion bars came from . both springs will compress their full amount for the corner-load because they are both exposed to the full corner load as installed. as long as you have enough travel for the lower overall spring rate relative to the weight it should be okay. The airbag is of course an adjustable spring rate, so you might need to run them higher pressure than normal setups. that's a lot of torque for your backup plan, but maybe a thicker torsion bar would be an option.
or you could also clock the torsion bars as if you're trying to get the car to ride higher to compensate...
